What interests you most about general surgery?

What fascinates me about general surgery is the broad range of procedures and patient types we encounter. General surgeons play an integral role in hospitals, often managing the sickest patients and providing essential surgical care.

What should healthcare professionals know about general surgery?

I believe it’s important for healthcare professionals to understand that general surgeons are crucial for hospital operations. We provide services in trauma, acute care, GI surgery, and more. Our role is vital for keeping emergency rooms functional, as we handle urgent surgical needs.

Can you discuss the current challenges in general surgery?

One of the current challenges I see is the shortage of traditional general surgeons. It’s essential for us to continue our education and adapt to the ever-changing healthcare landscape.

What advice would you give to aspiring general surgeons?

To aspiring general surgeons, I would say that while the path is demanding, the profession is incredibly rewarding due to its impact on patients' lives. The demand for skilled surgeons will only continue to grow.
